Benham United Methodist Hosts Ladies Luncheon
posted on May 14
Thirty-five women from fourteen churches representing seven denominations gathered Monday, May 14th at the Benham United Methodist Church in Benham KY. for their first ever Ladies Luncheon. The afternoon began with a wonderful meal provided by the Benham UMC Ladies Group. Afterward, the guests gathered in the Church sanctuary where group president Marla VanSickle greeted the ladies with a warm welcome and opening prayer.
Pastor Jody VanSickle sang two song specials, "Feel the Nails" and "Fear Not My Child." Pastor VanSickle then introduced guest speaker, Nanci Cobb from the Agape' Wellness and Massage in Cumberland, KY.
Nanci shared her testimony and the love of God. Using the scripture. "They will know them by their love." (John 13:35), she told how the Lord had brought her through a childhood of abuse and into His loving arms. She told of the difficulty of forgiving those who have wronged you, but also of the necessity of allowing God to work in and through your life to make that forgiveness possible. She shared how the love of God enabled her to come through failed and abusive marriages to a place of peace and love, finally relying on Him to see her through each day. And how that she had answered the call of God to be a missionary, bringing health and wholeness to those in Harlan County.
The afternoon ended with a time of prayer for all in attendance.
