DISCOVER RETREAT 2018
posted on March 13
April 20th and 21st
I wanted to take the time to share an amazing opportunity with you for the youth of the Kentucky Annual Conference. On April 20th thru 21st, the Ministry with Young People will be hosting the Discover Retreat, a time to begin the journey of discovering who we are in Christ! This weekend away is perfect for youth who feel they are being called to do more but aren’t sure where to start. No matter their calling, the first step is serving now.
The Discover Retreat is an overnight experience, focused on three main ideas: discovering your gifts, discovering your field, and discovering your team. Rev. Tami Coleman, Associate Director of Connectional Ministries, is leading session one on spiritual gifts, walking participants through a spiritual gifts inventory. Rev. Christy Allen, Associate Minister to Students at Broadway UMC, is leading session two, helping students discover the many ways they can use their gifts in their church and community. Rev. Craig Taylor, pastor at Masonville UMC, is leading session three, reminding the youth that alone we go faster, but together we go farther.
If you know of a high school student that God may be calling to serve, the Discover Retreat is an excellent resource for them and your church! The weekend is designed to allow you to send your youth without having to send a chaperone to accompany them. We have gathered an exceptional team of adults to help lead. For further information or if you have any questions, contact Nathan Calvert, Associate Director of Ministry with Young People, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Judy Noel, Connectional Ministries Assistant, at email@example.com.
